13/12/23 - Gander Classic 2013 - Young Gander Flyers vs Old Gander Flyers
For the fifth year in a row the Gander Classic brought to the Gander Community Center ice some fast paced hockey action with a grudge match sort of feel. A team of younger Gander Flyers squared off against a more senior group of Gander Flyers. Who won? Most happily the Gander Area Food Bank. Admission was by donation so at the end of the night along with the large collection of foodstuffs were some cash donations that together are reported to total thee thousand dollars.

13/09/13 - Muddin Madness at Quad-A-Poluzza 2013
Someone thought of hosting a weekend event for Quad and Side by Side enthusiasts to come to Gander and do what they do best. A dirt road tour early Saturday and then return to town for an afternoon of Muddin Madness. The town's Demolition Derby site had been modified into a mud bowl so to speak. Three trenches had be constructed and now contained progressively difficult mixtures of prime Gander pug. All held their breath as the first participants tried their luck. A fun time ensued with the outlook for next year's event being bigger and the mud pits will be deeper.
13/05/18 - The Sabena Crash Site at Martin's in the Woods
It is a short quad ride after crossing the Southwest Gander to the trail head for the path leading to the Sabena Site. The trail is well worn with sections that remind me of a rocky spring run-off brook bed. The crash site is more formally known as St. Martin's in the Woods where you find the well weathered shell of the Sabena Airliner and a graveyard with the remaining graves of those who perished. In the excitement of visiting the aircraft wreckage it is easy to forget that you are visiting a grave site and that it needs to be given that sort of required respect. 13/02/27 - Crossing the Southwest Gander River, the Old and the New
A mid-summer quad ride allowed a revisit of the Southwest Gander River area. Well groomed woods roads brought us to the metal bridge that presently spans the Southwest Gander. After passing over the bridge and taking a now less travelled road we visited the site of the old crossing where the you forded the river to get across. Going straight across was not an option. You had to make a big "V" by first going down river and across in the shallows. You then worked your way up along the east side watching to avoid a deep hole that could swallow up and swamp the unwary. A sudden rain shower further up river could quickly raise the water level making the return crossing unsure. With the bridge in place the uncertainty is gone. View the July 30, 2012 photos here.
